Homestead Feed & Supply is YOUR local store for livestock and pet foods. Created to fill a void left when the old feed store closed, Homestead has grown rapidly and broadly. Starting small, located in the milk room at the old Studebaker Dairy, it is now at a convenient location on State Route 235 in the old Shroyer Implements building. With the larger store we are able to carry a wider variety of feeds and pet foods and supplies to meet the needs of the local community. But Homestead is not just about livestock and pet foods; it’s about people and community. Our store manager, Erik Fine, has a degree in animal science from Wilmington College and is quite knowledgeable and able to help folks raise their animals for both the show ring and the riding trails. We have Mindy Blackford, who has 25+ years experience raising horses for show and pleasure, and many years experience in the feed business. Rose White has a myriad collection of critters, breeds dogs, and is (more or less) a “crazy bird lady.” Do we know it all? Heavens, no! We learn from our customers, who we like to call our friends and Homestead community family. We are all in this adventure together of raising animals, keeping them as healthy as possible, and having some fun along the way. But wait! There’s more! Homestead is also a mini Card Shop, carrying Leanin’ Tree cards and gifts. We have a small line of hunting knives and kits for the mighty hunter. Homestead also has something for the motor heads out there…Amsoil products! We also are a source for local farm products such as syrup, honey, and soaps. And if that’s not enough, we ALSO are your local source for Horse Head Wreaths…yep, we make them ourselves!
Homestead carries most of the major brands of feeds and food: Cargill, Hubbard, Kalmbach, Umbarger and Kraut Creek for the bigger critters and Blue Buffalo, Taste of the Wild, Canidae, and Purina Pro Plan (to name a few) for your companion animals. We have bowls, buckets and bag balm; suet, sprays and soaps! We enjoy meeting new folks and helping whenever we can. We are “An Olde Fashioned Country Store Where God, Family, Friends and Farms Come First!” Stop in and see us sometime and have a drink (of water, or soda or coffee)…it’s on us!
